Read Across America

I was privileged to be a guest speaker during Read Across America week.  For the 5th and 6th graders, I read a few chapters from my latest YA Thriller, My Skull Possession. The younger classes allowed me to revisit and share favorite stories from Mo Willems.  I was over the moon happy, as students raised their hands when asked if they enjoyed reading. Taking time to sit down with a good story has stiff competition from social media, YouTube and other digital platforms, but these kids still love books.  We discussed  favorite characters, genres and storylines. But most of all, I was reminded of why I write. When my storytelling allows readers to get lost in an adventure, escape reality, push limits of the imagination and finish the last page wishing there was more? My job is complete. To all the beautiful readers out there, thank you for being my inspiration. Read well. Dream big.
